Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Hello sweet friends!
I was notified that Google Friend Connect is going away! Eeeep!
I was introduced to Bloglovin as an alternative to using Google to keep track of your favorite blog posts.
I surely didn't want to miss out on my faves, Bloglovin made it easy! Just follow this link and you are set, woohoo! All of your Google feeds are transferred over! Yay! There is an app too. I got mine the other night and it is really easy to use.
I went ahead and added my blog to their blogroll. You should be able to find me and stay connected.
Hope you are having a great Monday!
xoxo

jumping rope.
My girls have gotten the bug. They LOVE to jump rope.
David took them to the sporting goods store and got them each their own jump ropes.
They were so giddy. I wish I could have been there to hear them deliberate about what color to get. I love hearing their banter.
They literally jumped rope the rest of the day. My mom even got in on the action and helped twirl a rope.
I loved their shadows on the driveway.
Cute even brought her jump rope to Sis's marimba practice. She takes it most places with her now.
I just love these girls and their jump ropes.

{crafts} Valentine's week!
Yay, it's the week of Valentine's Day! It's one of my favorite fun-holidays. I can't help but be happy by all the sweet decorations and loveliness all around. Oh and lets not forget all the Conversation Hearts. {grin}
I've been crafting up a storm over here and wanted to share a few of the things this week that I have been making.
First up--felt garlands.
You guys know they are one of my favorite things to make. They are so easy and cheerful. You can't go wrong with either of those things, right?! Just grab some colorful felt by the yard {I found the aqua and pink at Hobby Lobby and the red at JoAnn's}, a pair of really great shears and your sewing machine. Cut out fun shapes, this time I cut out hearts and sew them all together. DONE!
I love making them so much, Cute and I made one for her to take to school for her "100 things" to share on the 100th day of school. She was able to help cut out a few, count them out, and help sew them together. It was really fun to work on a project together. They look so cheerful hanging on the bulletin board outside her classroom.
I also made one for the girlies door for when they wake up on Thursday. I even got carried away and made a tiny one for their Barbies and animals. Yay!
Isn't Mr. Bearly so cute helping me?
What have you guys been crafting to get ready for Valentine's Day?

{crafts} How to make pom poms.
Hello and Happy February!!! You will see me {us} a bit more on this space. Yay! I took on a challenge with some of my new friends on Instagram. We all made a pact to commit to blogging more. I got to thinking about what this blog is all about. Hmmmmmm. It's about me, my husband and sweet girlies. It also has bits of crafting, recipes, and of course my love of crocheting. I feel like I should have an itinerary to keep me on track, but I love spontaneity, carefully planned spontaneity. Heehee.
David and Cute are off on a Daddy-Daughter-Date and my mom is at work. It's just Sis and I chilling here at our Casa. We thought it would be fun to write a blog post together. So here she is...
Ahem. I am Sis. I am ten years old and go to the best school in the world. I have the nicest teacher and the coooolest friends. I am a HUGE fan of Angry Birds. I love to write and draw. I just started playing Marimba and am enjoying it. It is really fun. I also have the most amazing sister.
I am currently working on a project for school. It is a "monster mailbox" for my Valentines. I have made a plan, and decided to use yarn pom poms and large google eyes. I have to write a character chart, how I made it, and a supply list. If I don't do that, I will get a bad grade in writing. I don't want that. I get to write a story about my monster, it's name is "The Yarn Knapper". I have been making pom poms which have been pretty easy because Mom bought these makers. I will share how to make one.

First, you need to gather your supplies, a pair of scissors, some yarn, and a pom pom maker. The pictures show you how to make one. I needed my mom to help me tie around the pom pom. My tip is make sure you cover all of the pom pom maker and that there is no color showing. Also, wrap around lots of times to make sure your pom pom is fluffy. Good luck and have fun. Bye.
Thank you, Sis for sharing how you make pom poms! I just love her.

I still...
Hi!
I am still here.
I still have lots of crafting ideas to share.
I still crochet a lot. I currently have 4 projects going at once.
I still have a storage dilemma, but I think I have found a solution. Saaaa-weet.
I still Instagram a lot. Join in the fun. I am @casadecupcake
I still am eating dairy, egg, & gluten free. I have a new favorite thing, guacamole. mmmmm.
I still have the sweetest husband. Oh how I love him.
I still have two adorable girlies. They are a hoot these days.
I am still helping my mom settle in at Casa de Cupcake. We LOVE having her here.
As Audrey Hepburn says in Love in the Afternoon...
"more later."

{crafts} paper candy canes, revisited.
We loooove candy canes at our casa. I am ashamed to say that I have eaten my fair share so far this Christmas season. You can't help but munch away, especially with the little ones. mmmm.
I've been having fun going over some of my old posts from last year. I forgot some of the fun things we did, like paper candy canes.
All you need is some white copy paper, a red marker and some tape. You'll also need a pencil, but isn't too important.
If you want to make some of your own paper candy canes, go check out the post here.
The one nice thing about these is, there are no calories, they provide lots of creativity AND you can keep them from year to year. It's totally a win-win.
Happy crafting!

{crafts} sew a holiday felt garland.
Let's pretend that this was posted a few weeks ago, ok ready? See here and here for the reasons why. Ok ready, let's sew!
Yay, it's December and it is officially time to start decorating for Christmas and for my BGF, Hanukkah! {To be honest, I had my decorations up before David's birthday...I know, I know}
I saw felt garlands on MADE, she calls them Happy Day Garlands. They are so lovely and cheery. I absolutely love them. She is such a creative and crafty lady. I heart her. I have also spied some cute ones while browsing on Instagram, too. I used Dana's instructions to put my garland's together.
I was really inspired to make some of my own, but with a holiday bent. I grabbed some colorful, Christmasy felt at JoAnn's during their Black Friday sales. I went to work cutting and creating.
I have to give the credit for this idea to Sis. I wish, I wish I could take credit for it. She suggested using one of my cupcake cookie cutters as a template to make a cupcake garland, BRILLIANT!!!
These beauties were easy but tedious, so I decided to use them intermittently. The cuteness kills me! I used tacky glue to make the cupcakes and than sewed them with the circles. Make sure to sew above the "cupcake liner", if you don't it will be too heavy and fall over.
I layed out the different felt circles and shapes on my cutting mat. It made trying to figure out my patterns a lot easier. This also made it really easy when I started sewing. Just pick them up in the right order and sew. Saaa-weet.
We gave this one to Cute's teacher for her birthday, she LOVED it. It was extra fun because Cute was able to help cut out some of the circles. This is a really easy way to involve your kiddos in the process.
I didn't grab a photo of the garland with the holly because I gave it to my mom and spaced on a picture. You can see in two photos above the pattern I chose. I also sewed some matchy-match baker's twine on the ends so she could hang it up.
The pictures were taken with my iPhone during the wee hours of the morning, soooo they are less than perfect. I think it adds to the charm though, don't you?
Now, go grab some felt and make some garlands! Yay!

the 12 days of Christmas, revisited.
Here is another fun installment of a post from last year.
I thought it appropriate since today is the first day of "The 12 days of Christmas".
This is Sis's rendition, and it's a hoot. Click here to read the original post.
My favorite day is day 6. Mmmmm, french fries. :)
Happy reading, friends!
a lovely day.
It is. I feel so blessed already and it's only 9:00 in the morning.
Blessing number one: I offered a lady a ride home. You guys, this is soo not me. I don't just offer people rides. I get scared. I noticed her walking home yesterday and that she lived in our neighborhood. After I dropped the girls off this morning, I noticed her again. The Holy Spirit tugged at my heart and said, Sarah! You need to offer her a ride home. I paused in the truck, not sure what to do and paused some more. I turned around and drove up to her. She said yes and was so thankful. It is FREEZING today, you guys. No one should have to walk in this weather. Low and behold she lives on the opposite end of our street. I KNOW! I dropped her off and gave her my phone number in case they needed another ride to school tomorrow. I hope that her truck gets fixed, but I also hope that she needs a ride. She was super-nice.
Blessing number two: The crocheted camera strap that I made and posted about here, has been shared on Blissfully Content today. Julia has compiled a really fantastic list of items you can make in 12 days. They are all so lovely. I am so humbled to be included in her list.
Go and take a peek at her blog. You will want to stay awhile and visit. I know, I do. :)
I hope that you have a lovely, lovely day too filled with the Lord's blessings!
P.S. No solution yet to my storage problem. Moving things around and deleting here and there has not made a difference. I know, such a bummer! I talked with David last night and I am thinking I will pay the fee to upgrade. Have any of you dealt with this? What did you do?

{crafts} felt nativity, revisited.
I still don't have the ability to upload pictures. Such a bummer. I had a list of fun new crafty posts to share...oh well. I will be able to share them at some point, I hope.
Since I can't use new pictures, I thought I would dust off some fun ones from last year. This particular Christmas activity has gotten lots of traffic from Pinterest...how exciting! The girls and I had so much fun making them last year.
I hope that you are enjoying the festiveness around you!
The directions and original post for the felt nativity are right here. Happy crafting, friends!
